This training program is designed for veterinarians who wish to perform abdominal ultrasonographic examination in small animal practice. It is intended for veterinarians who have no or little experienced in basic ultrasonography of the abdomen. The objectives of the program are to provide participants with a basic knowledge of ultrasound image formation and to perform routine abdominal ultrasonographic examination in dogs and cats with the main focus on the urogenital tract, the spleen and the liver.

The program is based on a mixture of formal teaching and wet labs in small groups of 4-5 participants with live animals and ultrasound machines. Main indications, normal and abnormal findings in common situations are outlined and discussed. The aim of the program is to give participants enough knowledge and practical information to perform a simple abdominal ultrasonographical exam in common clinical situation. A great opportunity to pick up the techniques of a basic abdominal ultrasound examination in a one-on-one situation!
